Books and cats and piles, oh my

So, you know how you get these brilliant ideas at stupid times of the day sometimes? Okay, I didn't quite have this idea at 11.30pm on a Sunday night, but that's when I executed it.

Previously, I had a sort-of TBR pile precariously balanced on a spare nightstand. On Saturday it suddenly occurred to me that what I should do is put my TBR in the bookcase nearest the bed so it was a) not precarious and b) closer at hand.

The above is what happened. It took me an hour and a half, and made my fingers itch to re-arrange my other bookcases, but I managed to talk myself out of that ... for now ...

Also, there's a whole new pile of books on that nightstand. Sigh. I need another bookcase.

I know my TBR pile (my immediate TBR pile I should say) isn't half as impressive as some others, but it's big enough. There's roughly 100 books on that bookcase, library books included, and for me, with how slow I'm reading at the moment, that's a comfortable number.

I'm planning on nabbing Chris's (http://www.dreamstuffbooks.com/blog/) 50x50 idea, (http://chrisa511.tumblr.com/tagged/50x50) but scaling it down to 20x20, and featuring my TBR pile in that somehow. I have about 12 things on my list so far, so I just need another eight, and I'll be blogging about it over here: http://daysmeanmore.blogspot.com/ I thought of starting a new blog, or getting a tumblr for it, but that blog is already there, and the last thing I need is another online time-sucker - lol.

So my plan is to work my way through that bookcase, and incorporate into my forthcoming 20x20 project. Doable, yes? :D

I put all my tbrs next to the bed, and then promptly forgot they were there! I think the disorganized pile in the middle of where they should not be is much more effective for me. Although admittedly not so great when it's time to clean or have company...

I love seeing people's bookcases! Thanks for posting this. Also, I love your new layout! (at least, I think it's new.. I read your posts in my reader and don't comment as much as I should)

b rhapsodyinbooks: Lol I'm in the process of re-organising my shelves/weeding out books, so it's just a start
Chris: You're in the right place! It was time for a makeover, that's all. It was fun! :D :D Heh, I just need to finish my list, and then I'll blog about it :-)
Rachel: I do, too! It's new, yes. I decided my blog needed a makeover! :D

I've done that before. My boyfriend came home and the entire living room was covered with books and I had a manic look on my face. Oh well, all in good fun! I have my immediate TBR books on my bedside table too!

You've got me dying to reorganise my own shelves now - must resist. And yes 100 books is quite impressive enough (does not even try to count own TBR list any more)

Jodie: You have no idea how badly I want to reorganise the rest of my shelves now - lol

I think 100 books is more than enough as a TBR! I have three times that and I'm currently trying to get it smaller.
I love your shelves, I have to say! It's fun to see how other readers organize their books.
