Booking Through Thursday

All other things (like price and storage space) being equal, given a choice in a perfect world, would you rather have paperbacks in your library? Or hardcovers? And why?

Interesting question. The truth, for me, is that I just don't care. I have more paperbacks than hardbacks, because they're cheaper to buy. I find hardbacks heavy and unwieldy to hold up for too long. So I would probably have a house full of paperbacks.

And cats.

Interesting. I'm not crazy about hardbacks for the same reason: they're unwieldy. But I think they're prettier. :-)

I hear ya on the cats! I have four. :) Quite a furry (and wonderful) clowder!

I love both paperbacks and hardbacks, so making a choice for my response was pretty tough! ;)

Happy BTT!

I love both formats! But budget wise I've to choose paperbacks. ;)

It's funny how books and cats go together.

Cats and books do seem to make a nice combination, don't they. It is nice to just quietly read a good book while they are curled up nearby enjoying a nap. Dogs tend to want to play or want to chew on the book (which made me very unhappy).

I don't have a cat, but my friend's cat loves to snuggle up to me when I visit them and read a book. :D

I too prefer paperbacks, but mainly because I've read more of them than hardcovers. :-)

Happy BTT!

I feel similarly... and have a dog and a cat. Cats are easier, by far!

We have a cat who has some kind of nervous disorder, so she sleeps in our room most of the time. If she wants attention while I'm reading in bed, she'll hook my hand with her paw so I have to pat her.
Funny animals.

I love paperbacks for the same reasons! I also have 3 cats. They are the best reading buddies!

LOL! Did you add that comment about having a houseful of cats? I think I missed that the first time I read your comment. Thanks for making me laugh!

I prefer paperback. Easy to carry, easier on the pockets too!

Practically all my books are paperback simply because hardcovers are way too expensive! $25-30 for a book is outrageous in my opinion. And by the time Waldenbooks puts them on sale for $6-7, I've already read them!!

Portability is definitely a plus but I still like hardcover because they seem more substantial.

When I trade online, the format is less important than the condition of the book.

Of course, a paperback costs less to mail...

Paperbacks and cats sound like the perfect accessories for you! Yes, I must admit, I have to substitute doggies. Pets and books are a wonderful combination!

Trade paperbacks and of course cats...we have three! One loves to lay with me while I read...I think she is trying to be one with my books!

Thanks for the comment! :)
