Weekly Geeks

Check it out here: http://www.weeklygeeks.com/

Tis mine, so come and play, please? Attention = love, as we all know.

Um. On to the question. As I said, some comments in a previous post got me thinking about guilty pleasures. Mine at the time was American Idol, and is now, quite frankly, stalking Adam Lambert on the internetz. But that's not the only one. And it's also not important right now. Ahem.

Overriding that, or riding alongside it more accurately, is my fairly recent obsession with reality TV. Not all reality TV. I have never, for example, watched an episode of The Hills _ I truly, truly don't get that one.

But I do watch Survivor. And The Amazing Race. And Hell's Kitchen. And Top Model, Project Runway, Top Chef ... I could go on.

Why, you may ask. Well, for one thing, I love TV. I really, truly do. That shiny box in the corner is the soulmate of the tiny, dark, venal part of myself that celebrates when Bad Things happen to characters on TV shows. I can't help it. Most of the time, I'm a nice person, I think. I work hard, I'm a good Mum and try to be a good wife. But TV brings out the worst in me. And you know what? I like it.

Oh, and if you happen to watch reality TV as well, please, please ... no spoilers. We are literally a year behind with some shows here.

Happy Weekly Geeks, everyone. What scratches your dark side?

Cool question - I'm thinking hard about it...

Hi, I'm Gnoe and I haven't watched The Bold & The Beautiful for 15 years now. LOL

Oh I love reality tele - it's my weakness.

So seriously? You guys are up to a year behind from the States? How crazy.

I'm just excited to find out that they will be airing the newest season of Project Runway. There was a couple of disputes between channels. Love Tim Gunn. "Make it work!"

Erotic Horizon: I know; it's bad
Another Cookie Crumbles: thanks :)
gnoegnoe: play, you know you want to ...
Chrisitna: It's frustrating. Especially trying to stay away from spoilers. I know we're a year behind with the Amazing Race, and Hell's Kitchen. Survivor has just STARTED here. We were a week and a half behind with Idol, but I was all over the internet with that one.
Um. Happy Weekly Geeks everyone

I seldom watch TV unless it is News channels. My SIL swears by reality TV!

WG:Guilty PleasuresBTW, thanks for this week's question.

I used to love The Amazing Race but we don't seem to get it in the UK anymore. I think career/talent reality tv is so much better than all that whiny Big Brother stuff. I'm still loving Gordan Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares.

Just replying to your comment at mine because it is an urgent soap thing: Shortland Street! I thought that was dead and gone! It was in the UK until maybe 6 years ago and then it vanished. I can't believe it still exists!

I wonder if I can watch it online...

I don't watch much reality TV but I do like The Amazing Race. And I have to admit, I'm a sucker for Wife Swap and the Nanny-911 type of shows. I don't actually watch them, most of the time, but if I happen to catch one on I can't stop.

Amazing Race is the one reality show I sometimes watch but the last race just didn't hold my attention. I wrote about my DVD collection.

I love reality TV - my favorite is the Amazing Race. I'm a particular fan of British Reality TV (thank God for YouTube) - How to Clean your House, Britain's Got Talent, the X-Factor :o)

The only reality tv I normally watch is American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. Ever since then, I'm slowly slipping away into a reality tv fog. I've watched those two plus I've just hooked myself on So You Think You Can Dance and The Next Food Network Star....I'm slowly slipping away!! Great question this week =)

YES! I love Hell's Kitchen, Top Chef, Survivor, etc as well! I didn't catch this American Idol season, and actually only watched one season of it, but have followed the Danish versions of the show and that has been great! In that guilty kind of way.

LOL...that is an unabiding love you have there. My wife and I like some reality TV, mostly Biggest Loser. Everything else we watch is officially scripted; Big Bang Theory, Grey's Anatomy, Lost, The Office, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother.

We love TV too. :-)

My boyfriend left on Sunday for a surf trip, and I haven't turned on the tv once since he's left. I could very easily live w/out tv.

Now shopping, that's my guilty pleasure.

Project Runway will be back in August! I love this show (partly because my hub just hates it. smirk)
